02The project story

Behind the experience

The thinking, delivery and outcome

Turning a sustainability message into something people could feel.

Bloomberg wanted employees to do more than read about sustainability. PWR Ride needed to make participation visible, social and measurable – transforming individual physical effort into stored energy with a practical community purpose.

TrybWorld provided the initial concept for Bloomberg’s PWR Ride. Working with TrybWorld, Hub9 refined and developed that concept into a complete live experience inside Bloomberg’s central London concourse: a cycle-powered race, digital measurement system, event environment and participant journey working as one.

One experience, seen from every angle.

The installation occupied a high-profile atrium where it was viewed from ground level, surrounding offices and the floors above. That meant the roof, rear elevations, lighting and operational areas mattered as much as the race-facing stage.

Building on TrybWorld’s creative concept, Hub9 developed the environment in 360 degrees. Strong architectural framing and green illumination created presence in daylight, while the layout moved participants naturally through booking, check-in, belongings, briefing, racing and departure.

Purpose made competitive.

Employees clipped in and competed in scheduled, audio-supported sessions. Live data translated watts and rider performance into an immediate shared spectacle, while the collective output accumulated towards batteries intended for community donation.

The competitive layer gave people a reason to participate. The energy journey gave that effort meaning beyond the leaderboard.

The invisible work behind a simple ride.

Working as TrybWorld’s development and delivery partner, Hub9 joined spatial design, fabrication, structural coordination, AV, lighting, digital content, energy-generation technology, registration and live operations through one delivery team. The structure also had to respond to changing health guidance without losing its open, energetic character.

Screening, spacing, non-slip finishes and participant controls were integrated into the design rather than treated as late additions. This protected approval, safety and throughput while keeping the experience inviting.

Designed to create value again.

The physical environment was modular and engineered for storage and reuse. That approach reduced future remanufacture and meant the investment could extend beyond a single activation.

Across approximately 20 bikes, five sessions per day and around 200 participants, PWR Ride made Bloomberg’s sustainability and community commitments tangible: people could see their input, feel the collective output and understand where that energy would go next.
