02The project story
The thinking, delivery and outcome
Coriant needed to explain how complex communications infrastructure connected a modern city. At Mobile World Congress, that technically dense story had to make sense within seconds – while also creating enough impact to stop delegates in a crowded exhibition hall.
Hub9 transformed the proposition into a touch-enabled living city spanning a huge fine-pitch LED canvas. Rather than asking visitors to decode diagrams, the experience let them explore the network directly.
A 10-metre-wide screen could easily have become an aggressive wall of movement. Hub9 designed the content hierarchy to work at two distances: calm ambient animation attracted attention from across the hall, while focused information appeared only when a visitor chose to interact.
This restraint made the experience approachable. The city felt alive, but the product story remained in control.
The complete user journey was storyboarded before animation production began. Delegates approached the wall, selected locations or themes through touch bars around its perimeter, and triggered relevant product stories showing where Coriant technology operated and how the network connected.
Multiple visitors could explore together without forcing the stand into a single-user queue. The installation shifted naturally from a distance attraction to a useful product demonstration.
Hub9 connected creative strategy, storyboarding, animation, interaction design, LED engineering, processing and exhibition integration. Around 120 recalled fine-pitch modules, multiple touch inputs and a substantial body of animated content had to behave as one responsive canvas.
Designing the creative and technical architecture together removed the usual gap between an ambitious concept and dependable show-floor performance. The technology disappeared behind an immediate, fluid response.
The experience created an award-winning centrepiece that helped draw traffic and made Coriant’s proposition distinctive and understandable. Its storyboard and content structure were also designed for adaptation, allowing the platform to be reused for NAB Las Vegas.
By combining clarity with scale, Hub9 turned complex infrastructure into something delegates could see, touch and discuss – without simplifying away the substance.
